Oh, Canberra.

Perhaps you’ve just moved here? We have. Maybe you’re having trouble adjusting? We feel you. Do your home-town hipster friends sneer at you: they only drink siphon coffee now and you just missed the best Brunswick warehouse party ever? Ignore that drivel! Don’t give up on Canberra before your health and wellbeing allowance even ticks over!

Many of us recently settled Canberrans lack local knowledge on which restaurants, cafes and nightspots to frequent and which to dodge (fyi: shooters-we’ll give you that one for free). Even our public service googling skills prove fruitless when it comes to useful info about Canberra’s eateries. Why?

Other Australian cities are rife with food blogs (and violent crime- stay away!) that provide punters with discerning insights into restaurant menus, service and ambience. What about us? Outincanberra.com?  Why, yes, I am, but I’d like more than a phone number to go on. There’s no denying it- Canberra needs a food blog like Steve Tucker needs a recall button. 

So we urge you to merge with lane one fork: A Canberra Food Blog. We hope to direct you to eateries more impressive than Bob Katter’s tan, while steering you clear of the baddies.

And now, colleagues, a message of hope to all AC territorians: just cos Gourmet Traveller won’t touch us, doesn’t mean there aren’t great places to eat here- we just need to be well-informed. So, if you ever went to Dickson noodle house expecting friendly, attentive service or thought ordering from a red burger caravan meant you’d get fast-food; you totes need this blog!
